Ordering repeat prescriptions

Repeat Prescriptions may be requested in the following ways:

  • Online – Please call 0345 337 1150 or email  ellonadministrator@nhs.scot.  to request a registration form. Once the completed form is submitted  you will be sent an email/letter with a password/PIN which is required to access the online service via the following link Patient Access.
  • In person– Complete re-order form from your prescription and place in locked prescription box in reception area.
  • By telephone - on 0345 337 1150 (option 4) between 11am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
  • Chemist - Drop off your repeat slip and the chemist will deliver it to the Health Centre reception.

Collecting your prescription

You can collect your prescription from your chosen local pharmacy - please allow 5 working days after you have ordered it.  You can also collect direct from the practice - please allow 3 working days after you have ordered it. 

Please ensure you order your prescriptions timeously to ensure you do not run out.  In the unusual circumstance that you may run out of medication , your local pharmacy may be able to provide a short term urgent supply. Please contact your local pharmacy to confirm if you meet this criteria. 

 

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacist can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

  • phone us on on 0345 337 1150 (option 2), Monday to Friday from 8:30am - 5pm.

When you get in touch, our medical receptionists will ask you a few questions. Please provide as much information as possible . 

Medication reviews

Our clinical team review medications regularly which may result in you being asked to attend for a nurse/ phlebotomy appointment or a telephone review. 

What to do with old medicines

Take them to any local pharmacy where they will be disposed of correctly.  Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

Acne, Allergies, Athletes Foot, bachache, Blocked runny nose, Bacterial Conjunctivitis, Chickenpox, Cold sores, Constipation, Cough, Cystitis, Diarrhoea, Dry skin, Earache, Haemorrhoids, Hayfever, Headlice, Impetigo, Indigestion, Mouth Ulcers,Musculoskeletal Pains, Nappy Rash, Oral Thrush, Period Pain, Ringworm, Scalp Disorders, Scabies, Shingles, Smoking Cessation Advice, Sore throat, Stings ( Bees/Wasp), Thrush, Threadworms, UTI ( certain criteria applies - please confirm pharmacy to confirm, Warts & Verucca. 

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

  • *This questionnaire applies only to patients already taking HRT who require repeat prescription/review. Please call the practice to speak with a clinician if you wish to discuss starting HRT*.
  • Unless you are contacted with any further review/repeat query, your prescription will be available from the pharmacy within 5 working days.  Blood pressure reading can be provided by home monitor or visiting a pharmacy that has a self check BP machine.

Contraception Pill Repeat or Review Prescription Request

Contraceptive Pill Questionnaire

This questionnaire  applies only to patients already taking the contraceptive pill who require repeat prescription/review . Please call the practice to speak with a clinician if you wish to discuss starting contraception. 

Unless you are contacted with any further review/repeat query, your prescription will be available from the pharmacy within 5 working days. Blood pressure reading can be provided by home monitor or visiting a pharmacy that has a self check BP machine.
